CHOCOLATE  PEANUT BUTTER  BARS

NO BAKE TREAT

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars are an easy no-bake dessert made with layers of peanut butter and chocolate and sliced into perfect sized treats!

– creamy peanut butter, NOT all natural – butter – vanilla extract – powdered sugar – chocolate chips – coconut oil, optional

Add the peanut butter and softened butter to a mixing bowl and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer.

Add  vanilla extract and blend on low speed and then add the powdered sugar slowly. Continue to mix on low speed until a ball forms

Transfer the  mixture to a lined pan and press it down evenly.

In a separate microwave safe bowl, add  chocolate chips and coconut oil and microwave for 30 seconds then stir.

Microwave for an additional 30  seconds and stir again. If necessary, repeat one more time but be very careful not to over heat the chocolate or it will seize and be unusable.  You can also melt the chocolate in a double boiler.

Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter layer and spread  evenly over top.

Place the bars in the refrigerator for approximately 2 hours to allow the chocolate to fully hardened. To slice with chocolate breaking, place a  knife in hot water, then dry it and carefully slice into  hardened chocolate. Repeat heating and drying the knife as needed.

VARIATIONS 1. Use semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips. 2. Sprinkle with coarse salt or holiday sprinkles before the chocolate sets. 3. substitute 1/2 cup crushed graham crackers  for 1/2 cup of powdered sugar for a little crunch.

ENJOY!!
