Ingredients
Brownie Layer

coconut sugar
honey or agave nectar
½
cup
almond meal flour or whole-wheat pastry flour
regular whole wheat flour will work fine too

unsweetened cocoa powder

salt

baking powder
½
cup
unsweetened applesauce or melted butter
¼
cup
liquid egg whites or 2 eggs

vanilla extract

chocolate chips
Almond Butter Layer
1
cup
almond butter
½
cup
coconut sugar or brown sugar

tablespoons
butter
melted

egg
beaten
½
teaspoon
pure vanilla extract

teaspoon
salt

baking soda

chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Line an square baking dish with parchment paper or grease with coconut oil.
Set aside.
Brownie Layer
In a bowl, mix the sugar or other sweetener of choice), flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.
Add the egg, butter and vanilla extract.
Mix together thoroughly.
Gently mix in the chocolate chips.
Spread in one even layer on the bottom of the baking dish.
Almond Butter Layer
In another bowl, mix together all of the almond butter ingredients, except the chocolate chips
Mix in the chocolate chips.
Carefully drop almond butter mixture in various spots on top of the brownie layer and spread evenly.
Bake 30 - 34 minutes or until golden brown on top
Let cool.
Lift out of the pan by the parchment paper.
Cut into squares
