These homemade Maple Brown Sugar Granola Bars are loaded with yumminess. Added cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg add extra special flavor to this healthy treat.
2Tablespoonsmelted coconut oilgrapeseed or canola would work too
2Tablespoonsmaple syrup
2Tablespoonsbrown sugar
¼cuphoney
1teaspoonvanilla
½teaspooncinnamon
¼teaspoonnutmeg
1 - 1½cupsraisins and/or any nuts
4ouncesof dark chocolateoptional
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F
Place oats in a 9 x 13 pan.
Toast them for 15 minutes until light brown, stirring once.
Remove from oven and cool oats for about 10 minutes
Line a 9 X 9 glass baking dish with parchment paper.
In a small saucepan, heat the oil over medium high heat.
Add the brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Simmer over medium heat, stirring until the brown sugar has dissolved.
Place the toasted oats in a large bowl and pour the heated liquid ingredient over the oats.
Stir to coat evenly.
Fold in your fruit and nuts (and other add-ins)
Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and press until it is flatten. You can use the back of a spoon or another piece of parchment paper to flatten it out.
Cover and let them sit in a cool dry place for at least an hour.
Turn them out of the pan onto a cutting board.
Slice down the middle and then cut each half into 6 bars.
If desired, melt chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat (or in the microwave at 1 minute intervals) and drizzle the chocolate over the sliced bars with a spoon.
