Juicy and flavorful oven baked chicken wings will be a hit at any party or game day. These crispy baked wings are coated with the best dry rub that are loaded with flavor and a healthier option than deep-fried wings.
Preheat oven to 400° F and place a wire baking rack over a rimmed sheet pan lined with aluminum foil or parchment paper.
Pat the chicken wings with paper towels.
1 pound chicken wing portions
In a large bowl, add the chicken wings and olive oil and toss to coat.
1 tablespoon olive oil
In a small bowl, mix all the other dry rub ingredients
1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ½ teaspoon ground mustard, ½ teaspoon paprika, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon chili powder, ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Sprinkle the spice mix over the chicken wings and toss to coat well.
Place the chicken wings, skin side up, on the wire rack and cook for 20 minutes.
Then flip the wings over and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
Enjoy served with ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing.
Notes
Olive oil helps the dry rub stick to the wings and help to crisp the wings in the oven. You can use a spray olive oil spray as well! This s a savory/ sweet dry rub that I am using. Feel free to use 2 ½ tablespoons of any favorite wing rub. Add ⅛ add ⅛-¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper if you like spicy chicken wings.
