Skip the takeout! This beef and broccoli is a 30-minute one-pan stir fry made with thin tender strips of beef, crunchy broccoli, coated in a mouthwatering brown sauce.
1poundLondon broil steaksliced thinly into small strips
2Tablespoonsolive oil or vegetable oil
1poundbroccolicut into 6 cups of florets
2teaspoonsesame seeds optional garnish
For the Sauce:
½cuphot water
6Tablespoonslow sodium soy sauceor gluten free Tamari or coconut aminos
2Tablespoonssesame oil
2Tablespoonspacked light brown sugar
1 ½Tablespoonscorn starch
4clovesgarlicminced
2teaspoonsginger pasteor fresh ginger, grated
½teaspoonsblack pepper
Sesame seedsoptional
Instructions
If serving with rice, start cooking it first per the package directions.
Slice steak into think small strips
In a small bowl, combine the stir fry sauce ingredients and mix well. Then set aside.
Add a 1 Tablespoon of sesame oil to a large skillet heat on medium heat.
Add broccoli florets and 2 tablespoons of water and cook for approximately 5 minutes covered until broccoli turns bright green. Then place in a bowl while cooking steak.
Add the other tablespoon of oil and heat the skillet on medium high to high heat.
Add the beef strips in a single layer and cook quickly for approximately 2 minutes on each side.
Pour the sauce over the meat and reduce the heat to low and simmer for 4-5 minutes tunil the sauce has thickened.
Add the broccoli back into the skillet and toss to coat with sauce.
Serve over white rice.
Notes
Use flank steak, sirloin or other favorite cut of meat.If sauce is too thick, add in a tablespoon of water.Substitute olive oil for sesame oil if desired.Serve over brown rice, if preferred but allow more cooking time prior to cooking meat.
