This scrumptious oven roasted onions recipe transforms simple ingredients into wonderfully seasoned caramelized onions that are a delicious side dish for so many meals.
Cut both ends off of each onion and place them in a 9x13 baking dish.
8 small yellow onions
Drizzle about ¼ teaspoon of balsamic over top of each onion and then sprinkle each with the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon sea salt, 1 teaspoon black pepper
Place a tablespoon of butter on top of each onion.
8 tablespoons butter
Place in the preheated oven on the middle rack and bake for 40-45 minutes until soft. (you may need to add more time for larger onions)
Notes
Use white or red onion if you'd like.Swap the Italian seasoning for a just basil and oregano.Add a sprinkle of garlic powder to each.Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 5 days.Reheat in the microwave on a microwave safe plate or in the oven on 325° F for about 10 minutes or until heated through.
