Maple Brown Sugar Granola Bars

These homemade Maple Brown Sugar Granola Bars are loaded with yumminess. Added cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg add extra special flavor to this healthy treat.

  • 3 cups old fashioned oats Gluten free if desired
  • 2 Tablespoons melted coconut oil grapeseed or canola would work too
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 - 1½ cups raisins and/or any nuts
  • 4 ounces of dark chocolate optional


  • Preheat the oven to 350°F
  • Place oats in a 9 x 13 pan.
  • Toast them for 15 minutes until light brown, stirring once.
  • Remove from oven and cool oats for about 10 minutes
  • Line a 9 X 9 glass baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the oil over medium high heat.
  • Add the brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Simmer over medium heat, stirring until the brown sugar has dissolved.
  • Place the toasted oats in a large bowl and pour the heated liquid ingredient over the oats.
  • Stir to coat evenly.
  • Fold in your fruit and nuts (and other add-ins)
  • Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan and press until it is flatten. You can use the back of a spoon or another piece of parchment paper to flatten it out.
  • Cover and let them sit in a cool dry place for at least an hour.
  • Turn them out of the pan onto a cutting board.
  • Slice down the middle and then cut each half into 6 bars.
  • If desired, melt chocolate in a small saucepan over low heat (or in the microwave at 1 minute intervals) and drizzle the chocolate over the sliced bars with a spoon.
