This boat dip is a creamy, cheesy and the best part is that is mixed together in minutes with no cooking required!  Made with sour cream, Rotel tomatoes, ranch and taco seasoning, shredded cheese, and green onions, it’s a perfect dip for not only beach and pool days, but BBQs, game day or tailgating and any holiday party.

You’ll Love this Viral Taco Dip

This easy dip went viral on tiktok for a reason. It’s a jazzed up taco dip and every time I make it, it disappears so fast!

Like this 3-ingredient cottage cheese ranch dip and this easy salsa recipe, you can make it ahead of time and double the recipe for a larger crowd.

I like to serve cold dips with a bigger bowl of ice underneath the serving bowl to keep it cool.

    Dip Ingredients You’ll Need

The complete list of ingredients with amounts are listed in the full recipe card below.

Five bowls with ingredients for boat dip on a white surface containing diced tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, chopped green onions, taco seasoning mix, and ranch mix.
    • Sour cream – Use full fat or light light sour cream. You can also swap the sour cream for plain Greek yogurt
    • Rotel diced tomatoes- Be sure to drain well in a mesh strainer in the sink so the dip isn’t watery. I use mild Rotel but feel free to use hot if you’d like a spicier dip.
    • Ranch seasoning mix – I use Hidden Valley Ranch
    • Taco seasoning mix – Use our easy homemade taco seasoning or a whole store-bought packet.
    • Shredded cheddar cheese – I used medium sharp cheddar cheese. You can also use a Mexican blend or Colby Jack or even pepper jack for extra flavor.
    • Green onions – sliced thin

    Variations to Try

    1. Add 2 tablespoons of diced green chilies or ½ a jalapeno pepper for more spice.

    2. Add 4 ounces softened cream cheese for even more creamy texture.

    3. Add a ½ – 1 cup sweet corn, either canned, fresh or frozen but thawed.

    4. Add ½ cup of sliced black olives and/or chopped fresh cilantro.
