Easy Crock Pot Chex Mix
Homemade Chex mix was one of my favorite things my mother made when I was growing up! She would store it in a big metal holiday tin at Christmastime. As much as it is a holiday favorite, she would make up a batch just to have as a snack all year long.
It’s easy to make, packed with flavor, and loved by everyone! It is also so versatile with additions too. Be sure check out our ideas below for variations you can make.
Slow Cooker Chex Mix Ingredients Notes
Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this recipe. Scroll down to the full recipe card for the specific amounts.
- Chex Cereal – Use any variation of flavors you like. Rice chex, corn chex and wheat chex are my favorites to use but use any combinations of 9 cups.
- Mini Pretzels – Use your preference of pretzels twists or sticks.
- Mixed Nuts – Substitute with any combination of your favorite nuts. Peanuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts, etc.
- Ranch Dressing Mix – Not the “dip” mix but the dry “dressing” packet.
- Butter – Salted or unsalted butter both work fine. You can also swap it for olive oil if you need a dairy free version.
- Onion Powder and Garlic Powder
Chex Party Mix Variations
1. Add other crackers to the mix for even more crunch like bagel chips, oyster crackers, goldfish or cheese crackers like cheez-its, cheerios, mini breadsticks, rye chips.
2. Make it spicy by adding a dash of cayenne pepper to the butter mixture.
3. Add a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce for more savory flavor.
4. Swap the ranch mix for 1-2 teaspoons of seasoning salt.
How to Make this Chex Mix Recipe in a Crockpot

Step 3 – Pour the melted butter mixture over the ingredients in the crockpot, and gently stir to coat everything evenly.
Step 4 – Cook on low heat for 2 hours, gently stir every 30 minutes for even cooking.
Once done, pour the mix onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow it to cool completely. It will crisp up more as it cools.
