Juicy Air Fryer Garlic Butter Steak Bites

My whole family loves when I air fry steak! Of course, we think it’s the butter sauce makes them so irresistible!  I typically make them alongside roasted potatoes or a simple baked potato or this hashbrown casserole and a favorite veggie like this roasted broccoli.

They are super quick and easy and are so wonderful in salads or for tacos and burrito bowls too.

Ingredients needed for Air Fryer Steak Bites

Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this easy recipe. Scroll all the way down for the full recipe card with amounts.

A wooden bowl of raw sirloin steak surrounded garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, paprika, salt, and olive oil.

    For the steak

    • Sirloin steak:  I use top sirloin steak but you can use any favorite. New York strip steak, flank steak, filet mignon or even steak tips.
    • Olive oil: I like extra virgin olive oil, but you can also use avocado oil.
    • Spices: garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt and pepper
A wooden spoon and four small bowls with labeled ingredients: salt, minced garlic, parsley, and butter, arranged on a marble surface.

    For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

    • Butter: You can use salted or unsalted.
    • Garlic: Fresh minced garlic is best but use jarred minced garlic if that’s all you have.
    • Fresh parsley: chopped
    • Salt

    Variations

    1. Add rosemary or thyme for a different herb flavor or even a favorite steak seasoning like Montreal steak seasoning.
    2. Add a some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to the butter sauce.
    3. Add in a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce when tossing in the seasonings.

How to Make Steak Bites in an Air Fryer

Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 400° F for at least 5 minutes.

Step 2: Cut the steak into bite size pieces and add them to large bowl. Then  add in the olive oil and the spices  and toss to coat well.

Step 3: Place the steak bites in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving space between each piece. So cook in batches if necessary.

Step 4: Cook for 6-8 minutes for medium-rare or 8-10 minutes for medium. (shake the basket halfway through).

The time may vary depending on the size you cut the steak cubes. So you may want to check them after about 4 minutes if you but them smaller than pictured here and like them more rare.

A pot containing minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and a dollop of butter, being stirred with a wooden spoon.
A pot of garlic butter sauce on a stovetop.

Step 5: While cooking the steak, add the butter, garlic and chopped parsley to a small skillet. Cook for a minute until the butter is melted and the garlic is fragrant.  Remove from the heat and set aside.

A spoon drizzles garlic butter sauce over a pile of sirloin steak on a wooden platter.

Step 6:  Place the steak on a plate and drizzle them with the melted butter.

    Tips:

    • Marinating the steak cubes for 30 minutes to an hour before cooking can add extra flavor.
    • Don’t overcrowd the basket and allow for air circulation. Cook in batches if needed.
    • Cooking times may vary depending on the air fryer model and your desired level of doneness.
    • Use a meat thermometer to check the steak temperature. Medium-rare is 130-135°F, and medium is 135-145°F.

    How to Store Leftovers:

Refrigerate: Store leftover steak bites in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Freeze: Place the steak in a freezer-safe bag or container and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.

Reheating Tips: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes or until heated through.
