    Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies Recipe

Tender, smoky sausages wrapped in crispy bacon and sprinkled with sweet brown sugar! Yes please! These lil smokies, like these crockpot lil smokies, are the perfect easy appetizer recipe for so many occasions!

Plus, they’re so easy to make! With just three ingredients and minimal prep, you’ll have a batch ready in no time.

Ingredients You’ll Need For this Appetizer

Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this recipe. Scroll down to the full recipe card for the specific amounts.

Three bowls contain ingredients: one with strips of bacon, one with brown sugar, and one with Lil Smokies sausages on a white marble surface.
    • Lil Smokies:  You can use regular, beef, or turkey smokies. The cheese stuffed ones are also a great option! You can use any little cocktail sausage actually, but lil smokies are my favorite to use.
    • Bacon: a pound of regular thickness works better than thick cut bacon, but you can use any brand you prefer.
    • Brown Sugar: use light or dark brown sugar for a great caramelized flavor.
    • Toothpicks: To secure the bacon in place and they double as a convenient way to serve them!

    Variations You Can Make

    • Brush with maple syrup instead of using brown sugar if you’d like
    • Add a sprinkle of cayenne pepper or chili powder to the brown sugar for a sweet and spicy combo.
    • Add a sprinkle of garlic powder, paprika, dried rosemary or thyme.

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Smokies with Brown Sugar

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2. Cut the bacon into three equal pieces.

Step 3. Wrap each smokie with a piece of bacon. Secure with a toothpick to keep everything in place.

Step 4. Place each wrapper sausage on the baking sheet and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of them.

Step 5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the bacon is crispy. Start checking at the 20-minute mark to make sure the bacon isn’t burning.

Step 6. Serve plain or with a dipping sauce like bbq sauce, ketchup or ranch dressing.

    Tips

Use parchment paper to make cleanup a breeze and prevent sticking.

If you prefer extra-crispy bacon, broil them on low for 1-2 minutes after baking.

    How to Store Leftovers

    • Refrigerate: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
    • Freeze: Place the cooked smokies in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Then place them in a freezer bag or container and store for up to 3 months.
    • Reheat: Warm in a 350° F preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until heated through. For a quicker option, reheat in the microwave in 30-second intervals.
