Step 5: Add half of the cereal mixture to the 9×13 inch pan and press it evenly into the bottom of the pan.
Step 6: Add half of the broken chocolate bars and to this layer of mixture.
Step 7: Then, add the other half of the cereal mixture and press it down over the first layer.
Step 8: Top with the remaining chocolate bar pieces and extra marshmallows.
Tips
- Use fresh marshmallows Old marshmallows may be tough to melt and can affect the texture of the bars.
- Don’t overcook the marshmallow mixture You want the melted marshmallow to be smooth and creamy. If it is overcooked it can be hard to work with.
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan: Use a spatula, the back of a wooden spoon, parchment paper or wax paper with your hands or spray your hands with non-stick spray to press the mixture firmly into the dish. This will ensure that the bars hold together well.
- Let the bars cool completely before cutting: It can be tempting to dig in right away, but letting the bars cool completely, 30 minutes to an hour, will make them easier to cut and ensure that they hold their shape.
