    Homemade Orange Creamsicle Shake

I have such fond memories of the running after the ice cream truck and having orange creamsicles on hot summer days growing up in NC.  A favorite now in my family, this orange cream milkshake recipe is the ultimate blend of sweet creaminess and tangy orange flavor that’s both nostalgic and refreshing.

Whether you’re hosting a summer party or just craving something sweet, this recipe is quick and easy to whip up. No fancy equipment needed – just a blender and a few simple ingredients!

    3 Simple Ingredients Needed

Ingredients for Orange Shakes - orange sherbet, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, cherries and milk.

Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this recipe. Scroll all the way down for the full recipe card with amounts.

    • Orange sherbet – Gives the milkshake its vibrant color and tangy flavor.
    • Vanilla ice cream – Adds the perfect creaminess. I love using vanilla bean ice cream in mine. Regular or french vanilla are great too.
    • Milk – I used regular milk to blend the ingredients together smoothly.
    • Whipped Cream & Cherries, optional

    Substitutions and Add-ins

1: Swap the orange sherbet with a cup of frozen orange juice concentrate. You could add ¼ cup of sugar if it’s not sweet enough.
    2. Use any type of milk you prefer – Other than regular, you can use coconut milk, almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk.
    3. Swap full-fat ice cream for lighter frozen yogurt or low-fat ice cream.
4.. For a health boost, add chia seeds, flax seeds, or a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
    5. Use non-dairy ice cream and milk for a vegan-friendly option.
    6. To make it more of an orange creamsicle smoothie, add a banana with half the ice cream and sherbet.
    7.

    Tips

    • If the shake is too thick, add a tablespoon of milk at a time and blend.
    • For a thicker shake, blend in an additional small scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    How to Store Leftovers:

If you have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the freezer.

When ready to enjoy, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes and give it a quick blend if you’d like.
