Best Air Fryer Apple Recipe
Using my air fryer to make everyday recipes quicker is a favorite of mine lately. These crispy air fryer potatoes, air fryer brussel sprouts and air fryer french toast gets make practically weekly.
These easy air fryer cinnamon apples taste like apple pie filling and are simply delicious. They remind me of Cracker Barrel fried apples and are such an easy dessert to make in your air fryer with just a few pantry ingredients.
Ingredients You’ll Need for Air Fried Apples
Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this recipe. Scroll down to the full recipe card for the specific amounts.
- Apples: I love using granny smith apples. Try McIntosh or Cortland for tartness, or use a sweet apple like Honey crisp or Gala for a sweeter flavor. I leave the peel on put you can peel the apples too for softer apples.
- Butter: Melted salted or unsalted works fine. You can swap the butter for coconut oil or ghee if you’d like.
- Sugar: Although I used white granulated sugar, you use any brown sugar or coconut sugar too. Maple syrup or honey are great swaps too.
- Ground cinnamon: Use only cinnamon like I did or add a sprinkle of nutmeg, allspice, cloves, or cardamom. You can also use apple pie spice or pumpkin pie spice instead of just cinnamon by itself
- Cooking spray: regular non-stick cooking spray or an olive oil or avocado oil spray are good.
Variations You Can Try
1. Leave the added sugar out completely if you prefer.
2. Add an oat topping as well. Mix 2 tablespoons of oats in another tablespoon of melted butter and add it in after the first 5 minutes.
How to Make Air Fryer Apples Recipe
Step 1 – Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
Step 2 – In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
Step 3 – Prepare the apples: Wash, dry, core, and slice them into ½-inch thick pieces.
Step 4 – Coat the apples: Toss slices in melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Step 5 – Arrange the apple slices in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray the bottom of the basket with cooking spray and place sliced apples in a single layer (cook in batches if needed).
Air fry the apples for 5 minutes, then flip, and cook for another 5-6 minutes until golden brown and tender.
Serve warm with your favorite toppings, scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream!
Tips
Don’t overcrowd the basket: Leaving a little space in between the slices help them to cook evenly with crispy edges.
Keep an eye on cooking time. Air fryer models vary, so check for doneness after 8 minutes.
How to Store Leftovers
- Refrigerate: Store leftover apples in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
- Reheat: Warm in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
