Oreo Cookie Balls are a super simple 3 ingredient treat that elevates a delicious classic cookie to a whole other decadent level. Sprinkle a little mint on top and add a little fancy to the holidays with these no-bake chocolate dipped, cream cheese and Oreo mini desserts!

My daughter and I have been treat-making girls this weekend. We started with Snowball Cookies, then Snickerdoodle Cookies and then it was on to these amazing Oreo Balls. They are another super easy Holiday treat that tastes like candy!

Oreo Balls on a table with crushed candy canes

There is something so fun about taking a classic dessert and turning it into something whimsical and even more delicious! This cross between a truffle, a cheesecake and a classic Oreo cookie dipped in chocolate might seem like it’s a complicated recipe, but with only 3 ingredients it’s almost fool proof.

Make these ahead of time and freeze until you are ready to thaw and serve! Use any remaining cookie crumbs to cover the outside of the ball to create a crunchy textured bite. Sprinkle with peppermint candy bits and you’ve got yourself an addictive holiday treat!

Drizzle white chocolate or sprinkle with a little gold leaf to wow your guests at your Christmas party. Leave them plain or add a little coarse sea salt over top.

Add them to your dessert table at your next girls night in, birthday party or for no particular reason at all. No matter how you choose to dress them up, these Oreo cookie balls are the absolute best and you’re about to find out why!

Oreo Balls Recipe sprinkled with crushed candy canes

These little chocolate covered Oreo Balls are easy, scrumptious truffles that no one can believe are so incredibly easy to whip up.

We made a colorful version by sprinkling them with crushed candy canes to make them a  “Holiday” version.   But, you can leave those off and sprinkle with a crushed Oreos too if you’d like or just leave them simply bare .

All you need is a package of Oreo cookies and an 8 oz box of cream cheese.  I use ⅓ less fat version. It just makes me feel better. haha!  And a semi-sweet chocolate bar to melt for dipping.

How to Make Oreo Cookie Balls

package of oreo cookies and cream cheese on a countertop

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Crush the Oreo cookies in a Ziploc bag. I use my handy rolling pin to beat mine. For added convenience, if you have one, pulse cookies in a food processor instead. (reserve about 3 tablespoon for sprinkling if you choose).

crushed oreos in a ziplock bag

In a bowl, mix the cookie crumbs with the room temperature cream cheese. I use low fat, for no other reason than it just makes me feel better! Ha ha. Feel free to use what you have : ) Blend well

crushed oreos in a bowl with cream cheese block on top

Scoop up some of the mixture and shape into 1 inch balls and place on prepared baking sheet.

oreo balls on a baking sheet

Freeze them for 10 minutes to harden.

Melt semi sweet chocolate in the microwave according to instructions. A good rule of thumb is to microwave on low, checking and stirring every 30 seconds until melted. If you prefer to use a double broiler, you can go ahead and do this. Keeping in mind, it’ll take a little longer!

Using a toothpick, dip balls in melted chocolate and place on prepared cookie sheet. Sprinkle with crushed candy canes or cookie crumbs or both!

Refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm and cover in an airtight container to store.

    How to store them

Store Oreo Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

    Can I freeze them?

You can freeze the Oreo balls for up to 2 months. To keep the Oreo balls from sticking together, use parchment paper between any layers you make.

    Can I use other chocolate?

Yes, absolutely. Milk chocolate is just one way to make these scrumptious treats. Substitute dark or white chocolate or make a combination of all 3 different kinds to have an extra pretty presentation!

Use any leftover chocolate and mint and make some this simple holiday bark!

You can also freeze the Oreo balls for up to 2 months. To keep the Oreo balls from sticking together, use parchment paper between any layers you make.

As I’m in Ireland when you say ‘a packet of Oreos, , in ounces or grammes’, what is equivalent here.

These are one of my favorite treats, we make them every year as Christmas gifts for neighbors and I look forward to it all year long. Seriously soooo good. I love that you added peppermint to them. I might have to try that this year.
