baked pears on a white plate

Simple Baked Pears with Cinnamon and Honey are a wonderful healthy snack or luscious dessert when topped with a dab of vanilla ice cream.

It doesn’t get any easier than making these baked pears for an easy little healthy snack along with your yogurt. Or to turn an otherwise ordinary fruit into an elegant dessert.

We were at our local apple orchard last week and picked up a ½ peck of fresh pears too.  I don’t think pears get enough of the spotlight when it comes to turning them to treats.

My daughter decided fond that a dab of vanilla ice cream on top was the best way to have hers.  And I have to agree!  Serve these at your next dinner gathering and your guests will be shocked at home delectable they are.

    Baked Pear Ingredients

Pears – Use any pears you’d like. Bartlett, Bosc or Anjou are my favorites.

Honey – For the perfect subtle sweetness.

Coconut oil – melted. You can also use butter if you’d like.

Cinnamon – for that wonderful warmth.

Vanilla extract – gives it that perfect extra flavor.

    Variations/Substitutions

Use maple syrup or agave if you’d like.

Make them more seasonal by using pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon.

    How to Make Baked Pears

    Preheat oven to 400° F.

Peel the pears with a vegetable peeler.

several cut and peeled pears with the cores scooped out.

Cut the ends off and then cut the pears in half.

woman's hand holding a pear half and scooping the core out with a spoon.

    Scoop out the core gently.

eight peeled pear halves on a baking sheet.

Please them face down on a baking sheet or in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish.

In a small bowl, combine the honey, cinnamon, coconut oil and vanilla extract and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir to combine well.  (you can also heat on the stove in a small saucepan.)

eight pear halves face down on a baking sheet with honey and cinnamon drizzled over top.

Spoon ½ – ¾ of the sauce over the pears.

Bake for 30 minutes until soft and turning brown.

Remove from oven and let sit for 5 minutes

Spoon additional sauce over each pear before serving.

    ENJOY!!

Nice idea but maybe at a lower heat because the honey started burning on my pan 13 minutes in and smoked up my whole house 🙁 I was able to salvage them by microwaving the rest of the way for about 6 minutes so word of caution or maybe put water underneath them 🙁

Made these to take when invited for dinner. So simple & delicious! I took along a tub of vanilla and a tub of salted caramel ice-cream, both of which complemented the pears perfectly.
The pears are easy to transport – a big plus!
Luckily there were left-overs for this morning’s muesli 🙂

I think I used too much coconut oil and it threw the flavor of the sauce off a lil so next time we’ll try butter but it’s definitely delicious

I just used regular green pears. But you could use any that you’d like.

What are “regular green pears”? You do realize there are literally 3000+ varieties of pears? Would a green Anjou work? My grocery carries both them and Bartlett pears on a regular basis and both are green. Bosc pears are the most common pear used in cooking, but they aren’t green more brown…

Made these pears tonight. Served as a side dish to parmesan encrusted flounder with crispy greens. The sweetness of the pears was a perfect compliment. My husband was slurping up the sauce. So easy but dinner looked so special, especially for a Wednesday night ;). Thanks for sharing a great little recipe.
