Ingredients Needed
The complete list of ingredients with amounts are listed in the full recipe card below.
- Flour tortillas - Use medium-sized. You can also use whole wheat or low-carb tortillas. Corn tortillas work, but they won't be as sweet or puffy.
- Butter – I usually use unsalted butter but salted works fine too. Substitute with coconut oil or vegan butter if you’d like.
- Granulated sugar – You can use brown sugar if you’d like.
- Ground cinnamon
How to Make Cinnamon Chips in the Oven
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Place the butter in a small microwave safe bowl in the microwave for 15 seconds. Then stir and heat for additional 15 seconds until melted.
Step 3: In a separate small bowl, mix the cinnamon and sugar together.
Step 4: Lay tortillas out on a cutting board and cut shapes with cookie cutters (I love the cut leaf shapes for fall holidays) or use pizza cutter or sharp knife and cut each tortilla into 8 triangles. (I cut them in half first then cut each half in half. Then repeat again by cutting those in half).
Step 5: Place them on the lined baking sheet in an even layer with a little space between. Brush with the melted butter first and then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Step 6: Bake for 8 minutes.
Then flip the tortilla pieces over and lightly brush with butter on this side as well and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over again. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 7-8 mins until crisp.
Step 7: Remove from oven and let cool for 5-10 minutes for the best crunchy
Serve with a dessert dip or eat as is as a quick snack.
Storing: Let to cool completely and then store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
Make This Cinnamon Tortilla Chips Recipe in an Air Fryer
Follow the above instructions but instead of baking them in the oven, place them in the air fryer basket in a single layer. (be sure there to not overcrowd the basket for the best crispiness)
Cook in a preheated air fryer temperature of 325° F instead for about 4 minutes then turn them over and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes. Be sure to check and watch them closely so they don’t burn.
How to Re-crisp Homemade Tortilla Chips
Preheat the oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the chips on the pan and bake for about 6-7 minutes. Then allow them to cool completely and crisp up as they cool.
Tip
Be sure to leave a little space between each one on the baking sheet so the chips are crispy.
