Hi Sherri! I’m stopping over from Let’s Get Real today. I was super excited to see your post because is combines 2 of my favorite things…….real food and crockpots. I make salsa chicken on a regular basis. It tastes fantastic over rice or rolled up in a tortilla. I think the Santa Fe chicken will be the next one for me to try. I have a new obsession for black beans.

Oops, sorry hit send too soon….also:

Greek Cheesecake uses stevia…..what would be an appropriate substitute?

Chicken and Spinach uses canned tomatoes…..would you just cut up fresh tomatoes instead? But canned tomatoes usually have a lot of juice included how would I do that with fresh tomatoes?

Asian pork with mushrooms uses oil spray….is the brand she recommends “clean”….I know I have avoided these sprays for years because of the chemicals in them, but are some “good” now?

      Thank you!

And I should have mentioned these too…sorry 🙂

I will use honey instead of Stevia in the greek cheesecake.

In the chicken and spinach I will cut up whole tomatoes into diced pieces. You get the juices from them too and it usually works just fine for me.

In the Asian pork, I will use a little coconut oil. I never, ever use sprays myself. And I will use honey in place of agave or sugar too.

Thanks so much for your questions. It is sometimes confusing but once you get in the swing of things it becomes more clear what choices are best and more natural.

I’m just learning about “clean eating” as well, so I may be off base here, but a couple recipes posted have things that don’t seem to fit the “clean” rules….for example, the pomegranate salmon uses bottled juice…..while I know you can make homemade salsas and homemade taco seasonings….what would use as a substitute for the bottled juice? Thank you.

Great questions! I don’t think pomegranate juice has as much sugar as sweeter fruit juice. I will probably use as 1/2 as much as this recipe calls for personally.

But other juices, especially apple and orange, I don’t use or buy myself because they have a lot of natural sugar.
