Homemade Caramel Sauce
With our plethara of apples from our apple picking lately, my daughter has been asking for some yummy caramel dipping sauce to dip her apple slices in. Is there anything much better? But unfortunately, all the store bought versions I saw were loaded with high fructose and other yuck.
So, Pinterest to the rescue! I did some searching and couldn’t believe what I found. You can make your very own caramel sauce (or really Dulche de Leche) with one simple ingredient and a crock pot!
That would be a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk and a crock pot!
I actually poured my condensed milk into small mason jars to cook it in. But many people just place the can of condensed milk in the crock pot directly. I didn’t want to add any potential contaminates from the can so I opted for the mason jars. 🙂
This homemade caramel is such a HUGE hit!! Even my husband, who doesn’t eat hardly any sweets, can’t get enough on a little sliced apple.
I bought 2 cans of condensed milk and poured it into 3 jars.
