Homemade Taco Seasoning
After looking at the ingredients of store-bought taco seasoning packets, which has several not so good ingredients, I decided it was time to figure out how to make my own DIY taco seasoning.
Making this taco seasoning takes less than 5 minutes and it the best to use for tacos, burritos, dips and more! Believe me, once you make this recipe you will never go back to buying the packets.
I didn’t include any salt in this recipe but feel free to add a teaspoon if you prefer. Not only does it not have any artificial ingredients, it’s also naturally gluten-free as well.
How to Make this Homemade Seasoning
Mix all the spice ingredients together and store in an airtight container. (I actually use an old spice bottle that I had saved)
This recipe is not too spicy. If you like it a little spicer, add a tad more cayenne pepper.
Use 2 tablespoons of the mixture with 1 pound of ground meat or shredded chicken. You can add

Sherry I am getting ready to use your taco spices is there any need to put water in it?
Susan Albright
I mix the seasoning mix with 3/4 cup of water, bring it to a boil, then let it simmer until most, if not all, of the liquid is absorbed by the ground beef.

Trying this for the first time tonight for taco salads but using lean ground turkey instead of ground beef. Hoping it’s good so I can stop buying the packets and all of the extra’s put in it for preservation.

I’m confused.. where does the sodium come from in this recipe? Thanks!
Robyn A Pierce
Look at your bottles of spices you are using my chili powder has salt in it and the recipe calls for 6 TBS. That’s where I’m thinking it’s coming from
