    Homemade Taco Seasoning

After looking at the ingredients of store-bought taco seasoning packets, which has several not so good ingredients, I decided it was time to figure out how to make my own DIY taco seasoning.

Making this taco seasoning takes less than 5 minutes and it the best to use for tacos, burritos, dips and more! Believe me, once you make this recipe you will never go back to buying the packets.

I didn’t include any salt in this recipe but feel free to add a teaspoon if you prefer.  Not only does it not have any artificial ingredients, it’s also naturally gluten-free as well.

How to Make this Homemade Seasoning

Mix all the spice ingredients together and store in an airtight container. (I actually use an old spice bottle that I had saved)

This recipe is not too spicy. If you like it a little spicer, add a tad more cayenne pepper.

Use 2 tablespoons of the mixture with 1 pound of ground meat or shredded chicken. You can add

This spice mix is great- I got a little carried away with the cayenne but it was still yummy

How long is it good for in a sealed container?

Love this. Better and fresher than the store bought packages. Plus you can dial it up with heat if you’d like or down as well. Great to have on hand.

Trying this out right now. I added a pinch of salt to the mix just for flavor. The store bought is definitely over salted.

Do you add water with it when you add it to the meat? And if so, how much?

We usually add 3/4 of a cup per pound of meat.

I will be trying this for lunch today. This will help me use some spices up, I don’t use quick enough. I also don’t like buying the packages. This is a lot cheaper!
