These addictive baked Kale Chips are so easy to make and are the best little crunchy snack. With just a tad of oil and sea salt, you can transform this super healthy vegetable into a favorite treat.

Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around! It is loaded with Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Vitamin A and super anti-oxidant rich. I love this easy Kale Salad with Lemon Dressing or Chicken and Kale Soup are two of my favorite recipes using fresh kale.

I have had making kale chips on my list of things to make for such a long time.  I have bought them many times and love them!

As good as they are already made, they are that much BETTER homemade.  They truly just melt in your mouth!  That tray you see in these pictures was devoured in literally 3 minutes once I said “Go”.

A kale chip held in fingers

They are so light and crispy.  The perfect way to get a little extra healthy veggie into picky kids too.  My little Miss couldn’t get enough.  I was speechless!  Because this child of mine does not (and I repeat) does not favor anything green.

I bought a bag of curly kale.  They are already pretty small pieces.  After I washed and patted them dry there was not a lot of thick stem to cut off.

If you buy a “bunch” instead of a bag the stems will be bigger but they are very easy to trim off.

Plus all you need is 1 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil to toss it in as well.  I used coconut oil for ours since it’s my fav for a sweeter flavor.

Ingredients needed to make Kale Chips

1 bag of kale or 1 medium bunch kale

1 tablespoon melted coconut oil or olive oil

¼ teaspoon sea salt to taste

    How to Make Kale Chips

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

Wash kale leaves and dry well.

    scissors trimming stalks off kale

Using a kitchen scissors or a small knife trim off the thick ribs pieces.

Cut the kale into approximately two-inch pieces.

Add the oil to a large bowl.

fresh kale in a white bowl

Add the kale and toss thoroughly.  Make sure that each piece is covered with the oil.  That 1 tablespoon goes farther than you think.

    uncooked Kale on parchment paper

Lay the kale in a single layer on the baking sheet.

Bake for 8 – 12 minutes, until crisp. Check at 8 minutes and add time if needed. Do not burn.  The curly kale will take longer than flat kale.  My curly kale took right at 12 minutes and it was perfect!

Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes.

    ENJOY!!!

Yummy and easy! This is only one baking sheet of two that I baked. I had two large bundles of kale, so I doubled the salt and oil. I won’t use as much salt next time. I baked mine for about 14 minutes since there were two large bundles and it wasn’t one layer as the recipe suggests. I took them out at 8 and 12 minutes and it was good but I wanted more crunch so I baked for a total of 14. Delish and will make again!!

Not that healthy use olive oil to reduce the saturated fat. Coconut oil is over 90 percent sat fat.
