    Easy Buffalo Turkey Burgers

What makes these burgers so great is the sautéed garlic, onions, carrots, celery combined with the poultry seasoning. And then of course dredging them in buffalo sauce and topping it off with your favorite cheese.

I love mine with sharp cheddar cheese but you can also use blue cheese as well. Topping with blue cheese dressing or ranch dressing is amazing too!

    Ingredients Needed

Raw ground turkey in a tray, surrounded by ingredients including oil, carrots, onions, butter, tomato sauce, garlic, black pepper, salt, and a celery stalk on a marble surface.

Below is a list of the ingredients you’ll need to gather to make this recipe.  Scroll down to the full recipe card for individual amounts.

    • Olive Oil – Used for sautéing the vegetables and cooking the patties. You can also use coconut oil or any vegetable oil that you prefer.
    • Garlic, Celery, Carrots, Onion – these sautéed vegetables really compliment the burger.
    • Ground Turkey – I use 93% lean but you can use your favorite.
    • Poultry Seasoning – A key ingredient for wonderful extra flavor.
    • Salt and Pepper – Season to taste.
    • Buffalo Sauce – Brings the iconic, zesty buffalo taste you’ll love. My favorite is Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo Wing Sauce.
    • Butter – Used to thicken the sauce and coat the burgers.
    • Cheese – Use any favorite slice of cheese like cheddar or monterey jack, or use crumbles of blue cheese or feta cheese.

    Variations/Substitutions

    1. Substitute ground chicken for the ground turkey.
    2. Swap the buffalo for another hot sauce for different heat level.
    3. Use vegan butter for a dairy-free option.
    4. Serve on gluten-free buns or romaine lettuce.
    5. Use an cheese you would like. Blue cheese crumbles, Monterey jack or cheddar for extra flavor.
    6. Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato and red onions.
    7. If you prefer to not use diced vegetables in the burger, you can season the meat with one teaspoon of garlic powder and one teaspoon of onion powder.

    Tips

    • Make sure all patties are the same size for even cooking.
    • Mix the ingredients until just combined to avoid dry burgers.

What to Serve With a Buffalo Turkey Burger

There are so many great sides to serve with burgers as you know, some of our favorites are:

    • Sweet Potato Fries
    • BLT Pasta Salad
    • Roasted Potatoes
    • Potato Salad
    • Broccoli Salad
    • Orzo Pasta Salad
    • Italian Pasta Salad

    How to Store Leftovers

Refrigerate – Place cooled leftover burgers in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.

Freeze – Freeze cooked and cooled burgers in a freeze bag for up to 2-3 months. You can also freeze the uncooked burgers. After sautéing the vegetables and making the patties, place parchment paper between each burger and place in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Then thaw in the refrigerator and cook as directed.

Reheat – Reheat the cooked burgers in the microwave in a microwave safe plate for 30 seconds. Be careful not to overcook as they can easily become tough. You can also reheat on stovetop in a pan with a little butter or oil over medium heat until heated through.

    FAQ’s

Can I grill these Turkey Burgers?

Yes, you can grill the burgers over medium heat instead of pan-frying. After grilling, dredge the patties in the buffalo butter mixture that has been heated in a skillet.
